Dr. Simon Schwartz requisitioned power generators for the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The request load has arrived at the Mission and Dr. Schwartz has been alerted by MOVCON to participate in the inspection. The goods were shipped as per the EXW delivery terms by the UN freight forwarder selected by the Freight Forwarding Team. As the Requisitioner, Dr. Schwartz is anxious to receive and inspect the consignment before they are dispatched to specific areas in and around Lebanon.

Before Dr. Schwartz inspects his consignment, the goods already went through a number of processes and checks. What are they? What are Dr. Schwartz's responsibilities once he receives the consignment?

For purchases with EXW delivery terms, the Appointed freight forwarders shall check all consignments received and verify completeness and conformity with the PG instructions with regards to:

1. Number of packing units
2. Appropriate packings
3. Markings
4. Value and documentation

In case of a match, the Forwarder will certify the reception of the goods by issuing a Forwarder's Certificate of Receipt (FCR) and a signed certified copy of the Bill of Lading (B/L) or CMR (Convention relative au contrat de transport international de Marchandises par Route) waybill. These documents will be sent to the Freight Forwarding Team at UN/PD. Upon receipt this team will trigger the receipt of the goods in IMIS and forwards the freight invoices and all the supporting documents to the requisitioners. Dr. Schwartz, as the Requisitioner, upon receipt of the goods will have to fulfil the inspection checking the accuracy and completeness of the consignment and carry out the "inspection" function in IMIS for both the purchase order for goods and the purchase order for the associated freight services.
