The funds used by the United Nations are entrusted to the Organisation by its Member States and other Parties. Therefore, in order to ensure the maximum degree of public trust, the transactions engaged in by the UN shall be conducted in accordance with the highest ethical and professional standards.
It then becomes absolutely essential that all procurement activities are carried out in a manner above reproach, with complete impartiality and with no preferential treatment. Therefore the staff associated with the procurement function is responsible for protecting the integrity of the procurement process and maintaining fairness in the treatment of all Vendors.
